OMAFRA welcomes Sarah Jandricic as the Greenhouse Floriculture IPM Specialist
We are pleased that Sarah Jandricic joined the Agriculture Development Branch as the Greenhouse Floriculture IPM Specialist. Sarah works from the Vineland Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) office. The Greenhouse Floriculture IPM Specialist works to optimize integrated pest management in floriculture crops. This includes on-farm testing of current IPM strategies for insect pests and diseases and collaborative research projects on novel IPM strategies. The Greenhouse Floriculture IPM specialist disseminates information on effective pest management techniques through workshops and OMAFRA’s ONfloriculture blog. Sarah will be building on the great work done by Graeme Murphy, who recently retired from the position.
Sarah’s agricultural and educational experience
Sarah is a self-described “bug nerd” with 12 years of experience in greenhouse floriculture IPM. She comes to the Ministry from the Department of Entomology at North Carolina State University, where she was a post-doctoral researcher. In addition to Sarah’s strong research background, she also has extensive experience delivering grower workshops, running field days and writing magazine articles and blogs. Sarah holds a Ph.D. in Entomology from Cornell University and a M.Sc. degree in Environmental Biology and Toxicology from the University of Guelph.
